Ashley Darryl Dworsky is an accomplished immigration attorney, author, and founder of the Dworsky Law Firm, where he has spent more than two decades helping individuals, families, employers, and organizations navigate the U.S. immigration system with confidence and clarity.

Born in Durban, South Africa, Ashley began his legal career after earning both his B.Proc. and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, one of South Africa’s leading universities. He was admitted as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa and became a member of the Johannesburg Bar, where he built a respected litigation practice handling complex civil, criminal, commercial, and constitutional matters. His work included appearances in significant reported cases before South African courts, including the Appellate Division and Constitutional Court.

In 1998, Ashley immigrated to the United States with his family after being granted permanent residence under the EB-1 category for individuals with extraordinary ability. His own immigration journey gave him firsthand insight into the uncertainty, complexity, and emotional weight that often accompany the process of building a new life in a new country. That personal experience became a defining part of his professional mission.

After relocating to Illinois, Ashley faced additional challenges as a foreign-trained attorney seeking admission to practice law in the United States. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 2002 and later successfully petitioned the Supreme Court of Illinois for permission to sit for the Illinois Bar Examination, despite restrictions affecting foreign-educated lawyers. After passing the Illinois Bar Exam, he became licensed in Illinois and went on to establish the Dworsky Law Firm.

Today, Ashley is licensed to practice law in Illinois and New York and is admitted to several federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is also an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Through the Dworsky Law Firm, Ashley has represented thousands of clients in a wide range of immigration matters, including employment-based visas, family-based petitions, green cards, asylum, removal defense, appeals, and complex federal immigration litigation. His cases have also received national media attention, including his representation of a traveler from Swaziland (now Eswatini) who was unlawfully detained by federal authorities at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, and his defense of Peter Derezinski, a Polish national who had lived in the United States for over two decades — matters covered by publications including the Chicago Tribune and The Wall Street Journal, reflecting his role in high-stakes immigration matters and his commitment to protecting the rights of foreign nationals.

Ashley lives in Illinois with his wife, Melina. Together, they have raised three children and built a life rooted in family, service, resilience, and the belief that the right legal guidance can change the course of a person’s future.
